[PROTO] Journeys around a campfire
A downloadable game
Journeys around a campfire is a GM-less TTRPG where players will collectively engage in storytelling. The narration is shared among all the players and relies on improvisation.
The game
Players will act as travellers that mourn a recently deceased fellow traveler. Reunited around a campfire for the mourning rite, the group will exchange about this traveller to determine what kind of traveller they were. Each character will represent a Guild of traveller, and together they will exchange in order to know to which Guild the soul of this past traveller will be entrusted.
You will then narrate the journey of your own character but, indirectly, will describe the journey of your lost one. How did you meet them ? For how long did you travel together ? The game features two steps : the mourning rite and an introspection phase.
The project & music
The game was initially released in french (https://the-gates-of-truth.itch.io/voyages-autour-du-feu) and I'm working on translating it in english. It will contain the rulebook and also a 1+ hour album.
Indeed, as the travellers are also itinerant musicians, you can use the soundtrack I have composed. Here is the the youtube playlist that features guitar, marimba, pipa, sarod, bass and sitar.

Themes
It actually was a project designed for a game jam about the journey. But I feel like I also wanted to take on a new approach on mourning rites and that, in a way, makes it a hope punk project.
However, as the game deals with sensitive content, emotional security is really important before AND after the game.
